The Art Galleries at Allegheny College will present two exhibits showcasing student artwork through Tuesday, Dec. 15. The shows are an opportunity for students graduating with majors in studio art and art and technology — as well as students minoring in art — to present the culminating work of their art studies.

The exhibits can be viewed during regular gallery hours. For information about special hours during this show, call (814) 332-4365. The Art Galleries are located in Doane Hall of Art, which is attached to the Campus Center on the Allegheny College campus, east of North Main Street between College and John Streets in Meadville. The Art Galleries are wheelchair accessible.

‘Tis the season to be cranky it seems, at least among local bloggers.  Peter Greene loses his religion at Venangoland while Condatis at Where the Creek and the River Meet suggests that buying local isn’t always the best idea.

The Sundance Institute has announced the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival

How the heck did I miss a local John Brown celebration?
