December 4, 2009 - A Yoga Solstice, Hanging of the Greens, and Free and Legal Downloads

Lots of fantastic announcements for Oil City.

The First Night Schedule has been announced.  I’ll be there and live blogging it more than likely.

Yoga instructor Gary Marzolf will conduct a free yoga celebration of on the longest night of the year - December 21st.

Finally, currently on Exhibit at The Derrick Deli Gallery-Cafe is work by Judy Leasure, Holly Berlin, and Claudia Allen

The Art Galleries at Allegheny College will present two exhibits showcasing student artwork through Tuesday, Dec. 15. The shows are an opportunity for students graduating with majors in studio art and art and technology — as well as students minoring in art — to present the culminating work of their art studies.

The exhibits can be viewed during regular gallery hours. For information about special hours during this show, call (814) 332-4365. The Art Galleries are located in Doane Hall of Art, which is attached to the Campus Center on the Allegheny College campus, east of North Main Street between College and John Streets in Meadville. The Art Galleries are wheelchair accessible.

The show and reception are free to the public. Information can also be found at

Nine Allegheny College students will present selections from Handel’s “Messiah” on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 3:15 p.m. in Ford Memorial Chapel on the Allegheny campus. The performance is free and open to the public.

‘Tis the season to be cranky it seems, at least among local bloggers.  Peter Greene loses his religion at Venangoland while Condatis at Where the Creek and the River Meet suggests that buying local isn’t always the best idea.

The Sundance Institute has announced the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival

How the heck did I miss a local John Brown celebration?
