October 1, 2008 - Slacker Uprising, more canceled shows, and a new local blog

The Hello Tokyo show scheduled for Saturday at Oil City's Latonia has been canceled.

I'll be volunteering at the Franklin Public Library's Used Book Sale from 10-12 today, drop by, say hello and score some winter reading for cheap.

The Clarion University Young Democrats will host a free screening of Slacker Uprising at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, at Hart Chapel. The screening is free and open.

43 Plays for 43 Presidents, a series of short plays depicting aspects of each president "warts and all", will open the 2008-09 Clarion University Theatre season. Jordan Rembold, a freshman theatre major and a graduate of Rocky Grove High School serves as one of the play's understudies.

Performances are Oct. 8-11 at 8 p.m., and a noon matinee on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12, $9 for children six and under, and $6 for Clarion students with a valid student ID. The play may not be suitable for children. For tickets contact (814) 393-ARTS.

Ted Smith continues to bring the Franklin Barrow Civic into the technological present. He has set up a blog complete with audition packets for the upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz.
